{"id":14250,"date":"2022-12-09T16:31:00","date_gmt":"2022-12-09T16:31:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.prnasia.com\/story\/archive\/3961493_AE61493_0"},"modified":"2022-12-09T16:31:00","modified_gmt":"2022-12-09T16:31:00","slug":"asia-embraces-the-dawn","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/transmediavictoria.net.au\/?p=14250","title":{"rendered":"Asia embraces the dawn"},"content":{"rendered":"<div><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/en.prnasia.com\/prnasia.com-PC\/images\/logo-en-blue-in.png\" class=\"ff-og-image-inserted\"><\/div>\n<p><span class=\"legendSpanClass\"><span class=\"xn-location\">HONG KONG<\/span><\/span>, <span class=\"legendSpanClass\"><span class=\"xn-chron\">Dec. 10, 2022<\/span><\/span> \/PRNewswire\/ &#8212; A photo exhibition that captures the changes in Asian people&#8217;s daily lives under the COVID-19 pandemic and encourages people to move forward opened in <span class=\"xn-location\">Hong Kong<\/span> on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>Co-organized by <span class=\"xn-person\">China Daily<\/span> and the Asia News Network, the <i>Changing <span class=\"xn-location\">Asia<\/span> \u2013 New Normal<\/i> photography exhibition runs through <span class=\"xn-chron\">Dec 11<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>The photos document what life was like across <span class=\"xn-location\">Asia<\/span>, in times of lockdowns, vaccinations, and quarantine. They also record how the public health crisis affected the region&#8217;s culture and heritage, the way people lived and learned, and how international events were shaped.<\/p>\n<p>Prominent figures, including consulate general officials of eight countries, think tank leaders, senior commentators, heads of art and cultural institutions, attended the opening ceremony of the exhibition on Friday.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"xn-person\">Zhou Li<\/span>, deputy editor-in-chief of China Daily Group and publisher and editor-in-chief of China Daily Asia Pacific, said at the ceremony that the pandemic has demonstrated the reality that human beings are bound together in good and bad times alike.<\/p>\n<p>It also pointed the need to build a community with a shared future, which was proposed by Chinese President Xi Jinping nine years ago and has been a guiding principle for China&#8217;s participation in international governance, he said.<\/p>\n<p>Md Marzuk Islam, vice consul of the People&#8217;s Republic of <span class=\"xn-location\">Bangladesh<\/span> in the Hong Kong&nbsp;Special Administrative Region, said he was amazed by the exhibition.<\/p>\n<p>He said the photos carry a message that human beings can remember the past and learn from it.<\/p>\n<p>In the future, he hopes that global communities can unite and support each other to make the world a better place.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"xn-person\">Ana Dubraska Garcia<\/span>, consul general of <span class=\"xn-location\">Venezuela<\/span> in the HKSAR, said <span class=\"xn-person\">China Daily<\/span> offers a good opportunity for more people to appreciate these valuable pictures, and said she hopes that <span class=\"xn-location\">Venezuela<\/span> can continue maintaining a good relationship with China&nbsp;in future collaborations.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier, the organizers invited professional photographers from <span class=\"xn-location\">Asia<\/span> to submit photos taken in the past three years under the theme &#8220;Changing Asia \u2013 New Normal&#8221;. The project initially received more than 1,000 photos from 179 photographers.<\/p>\n<p>A total of 78 photos were selected for the exhibition from 18 countries: <span class=\"xn-location\">Bangladesh<\/span>, <span class=\"xn-location\">Bhutan<\/span>, <span class=\"xn-location\">Cambodia<\/span>, China, <span class=\"xn-location\">India<\/span>, <span class=\"xn-location\">Indonesia<\/span>, <span class=\"xn-location\">Iran<\/span>, <span class=\"xn-location\">Laos<\/span>, <span class=\"xn-location\">Malaysia<\/span>, <span class=\"xn-location\">Myanmar<\/span>, Palestine, <span class=\"xn-location\">the Philippines<\/span>, <span class=\"xn-location\">Russia<\/span>, <span class=\"xn-location\">South Korea<\/span>, <span class=\"xn-location\">Thailand<\/span>, T\u00fcrkiye, the <span class=\"xn-location\">United Arab Emirates<\/span>, and <span class=\"xn-location\">Vietnam<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>This exhibition was held in <span class=\"xn-location\">Bangkok, Thailand<\/span> from <span class=\"xn-chron\">Nov 16-20<\/span>, coinciding with the city&#8217;s hosting of the leaders&#8217; meeting of the 2022 Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>HONG KONG, Dec. 10, 2022 \/PRNewswire\/ &#8212; A photo exhibition that captures the changes in Asian people&#8217;s daily lives under the COVID-19 pandemic and encourages people to move forward opened in Hong Kong on Friday.
