The Grand Prix was awarded to Dot Inc. from <span class=\"xn-location\">South Korea<\/span>.<\/p>\n<div class=\"PRN_ImbeddedAssetReference\" id=\"DivAssetPlaceHolder1\" readability=\"7\">\n<p> <a href=\"https:\/\/mma.prnasia.com\/media2\/1984406\/IMAGE__LIFE_S_GOOD_AWARD_Winners_2.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"> <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/mma.prnasia.com\/media2\/1984406\/IMAGE__LIFE_S_GOOD_AWARD_Winners_2.jpg?p=medium600\" title=\"LIFE'S GOOD AWARD WInners\" alt=\"LIFE'S GOOD AWARD WInners\"> <\/a> <br \/><span>LIFE&#8217;S GOOD AWARD WInners<\/span><\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The jury ranked the final four teams after each of the teams pitched their innovative solutions in the award&#8217;s final round, held during the <i>LIFE&#8217;S GOOD AWARD<\/i> <i>Conference<\/i> at LG Sciencepark in <span class=\"xn-location\">Seoul, Korea<\/span>, on <span class=\"xn-chron\">January 16<\/span>. LG&#8217;s own executives leading the company&#8217;s ESG management, CSO Lee Sam-soo and CTO Dr. <span class=\"xn-person\">Kim Byoung<\/span>-hoon, were present as well.<\/p>\n<p>The award embodies LG&#8217;s ESG vision of a <i>Better Life for All,<\/i> aiming to foster a brighter future for the planet and people. The company aimed to solicit ideas for environmental sustainability and accessibility, two key focuses of its long-term ESG initiative, the Better Life Plan 2030. The ingenious solutions presented by the four winners illustrate the power and potential of tech-for-good to spread positive impact on the world.<\/p>\n<p>The winning teams are: Dot Inc. of <span class=\"xn-location\">South Korea<\/span> (Grand Prix\/<span class=\"xn-money\">USD 700,000<\/span> in prize money); SOLUTUM of <span class=\"xn-location\">Israel<\/span> (Gold\/<span class=\"xn-money\">USD 200,000<\/span>); Day1Lab of <span class=\"xn-location\">South Korea<\/span> (Silver\/<span class=\"xn-money\">USD 100,000<\/span>); and NONA Technologies of <span class=\"xn-location\">the United States<\/span> (Bronze\/<span class=\"xn-money\">USD 50,000<\/span>).<\/p>\n<p><b>LIFE&#8217;S GOOD AWARD Winning Solutions<\/b><\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li><b>D<\/b><b>ot Inc.<\/b>: developed an assistive information display device for the visually impaired composed of 2,400 braille pins \u2013 or &#8216;dots&#8217; \u2013 which move up and down. \u00ad\u00adThe novel device converts images, maps and other diverse digital information from connected devices such as computers and mobile phones into a display for visually impaired users to comprehend.<\/li>\n<li><b>SOLUTUM:<\/b> developed a novel plastic material that dissolves in water at ambient temperature and then biodegrades leaving no microplastic or toxin residue.<\/li>\n<li><b>Day1Lab:<\/b>&nbsp;created an organic polymer plastic which completely biodegrades in freshwater after about two weeks, and in the earth after about two months.<\/li>\n<li><b>NONA Technologies<\/b>: developed a desalination solution leveraging Ion Concentration Polarization (ICP) to remove viruses, bacteria, salt and debris from water.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Along with the final four teams, the <i>LIFE&#8217;S GOOD AWARD<\/i> <i>Conference<\/i> was graced by the esteemed members of the award&#8217;s jury, the LG&#8217;s Life&#8217;s Good Committee, consisting of the company&#8217;s executives and respected scholars in the area of responsible business management; <span class=\"xn-person\">Alex Edmans<\/span>, a professor at <span class=\"xn-org\">London Business School<\/span>, <span class=\"xn-person\">Christopher Marquis<\/span>, a professor at Cambridge Judge Business School and <span class=\"xn-person\">Hyun S. Shin<\/span>, a professor at Hanyang Business School and a director of the Collective Impact Center at <span class=\"xn-org\">Hanyang University<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>The conference saw various attendees \u2013 including members of the public and local university students as well as LG employees and partners \u2013 and was livestreamed so that audiences from all around the globe could tune into the proceedings. During the morning, all four teams gave a final presentation and participated in a Q&amp;A session, while the jury provided feedback based on the impact, innovation and sustainability of each solution.
