{"id":18704,"date":"2023-05-19T04:58:00","date_gmt":"2023-05-19T04:58:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.prnasia.com\/story\/archive\/4105557_AE05557_0"},"modified":"2023-05-19T04:58:00","modified_gmt":"2023-05-19T04:58:00","slug":"cgtn-how-to-open-up-a-new-era-of-china-central-asia-cooperation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/transmediavictoria.net.au\/?p=18704","title":{"rendered":"CGTN: How to open up a new era of China, Central Asia cooperation"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span class=\"xn-location\">BEIJING<\/span>, <span class=\"xn-chron\">May 19, 2023<\/span> \/PRNewswire\/ &#8212; <span class=\"xn-location\">China&#8217;s<\/span> General Administration of Customs published data on Wednesday, showing that <span class=\"xn-location\">China&#8217;s<\/span> import and export volume with Central Asian countries amounted to <span class=\"xn-money\">173.05 billion yuan<\/span> (<span class=\"xn-money\">$24.8 billion<\/span>) in the first four months, an increase of 37.3 percent compared with the same period last year.<\/p>\n<p>It is particularly noteworthy that <span class=\"xn-location\">China&#8217;s<\/span> export and import volume with the five Central Asian countries, namely <span class=\"xn-location\">Kazakhstan<\/span>, <span class=\"xn-location\">Kyrgyzstan<\/span>, <span class=\"xn-location\">Tajikistan<\/span>, <span class=\"xn-location\">Turkmenistan<\/span> and <span class=\"xn-location\">Uzbekistan<\/span>, reached a combined <span class=\"xn-money\">50.27 billion yuan<\/span> in April alone, exceeding <span class=\"xn-money\">50 billion yuan<\/span> for the first time, marking a new step in trade volume.<\/p>\n<p>Chinese President Xi Jinping has said that the keys to successful cooperation between <span class=\"xn-location\">China<\/span> and the five Central Asian countries are mutual respect, good neighborliness and friendship, solidarity, and mutual benefit.<\/p>\n<p>The presidents of the five Central Asian countries are all in <span class=\"xn-location\">Xi&#8217;an<\/span>, northwest <span class=\"xn-location\">China&#8217;s<\/span> <span class=\"xn-location\">Shaanxi Province<\/span>, to attend the China-Central Asia Summit, which is scheduled for Thursday and Friday. President Xi held bilateral meetings with each of the five Central Asian leaders, with the talks covering topics including promoting bilateral ties, enhancing win-win cooperation, safeguarding regional safety and development, and building a community with a shared future.<\/p>\n<p><b>Mutual trust, solidarity<\/b><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;<span class=\"xn-location\">China<\/span> and the Central Asian countries, with their interests closely entwined, have stood together through thick and thin and are a community with a shared future,&#8221; Xi noted when meeting with Turkmen President <span class=\"xn-person\">Serdar Berdimuhamedov<\/span> on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>In the past decade, Xi visited <span class=\"xn-location\">Central Asia<\/span> seven times and also hosted multiple Central Asian leaders in <span class=\"xn-location\">China<\/span>. Xi has had in-depth exchanges with people from different sectors in the region. Guided by head-of-state diplomacy, the friendship and political mutual trust between <span class=\"xn-location\">China<\/span> and the five Central Asian countries have been constantly deepened.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"xn-location\">China<\/span> has established comprehensive strategic partnerships will all the five countries and reached consensus with them on building a community with a shared future on a bilateral level.<\/p>\n<p>Xi and Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov on Thursday also announced the elevation of the bilateral relationship to a comprehensive strategic partnership for a new era.<\/p>\n<p>The five Central Asian leaders spoke of the need to build a community with a shared future to contribute to the development and vitalization of both sides.<\/p>\n<p><b>Mutual respect, support<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Talking with Uzbek President <span class=\"xn-person\">Shavkat Mirziyoyev<\/span> on Thursday, Xi said that the two sides should firmly support each other and be trustworthy and reliable friends and partners of each other.<\/p>\n<p>In the face of a turbulent and complex world situation, <span class=\"xn-location\">China<\/span> and the Central Asian countries have become more aware of the need to support each other in order to safeguard regional peace and realize modernization and development of their respective countries. This is highly consistent with the <span class=\"xn-location\">China<\/span>-proposed Global Development Initiative, the Global Security Initiative and the Global Civilization Initiative.<\/p>\n<p>During their talks with Xi, the five leaders hailed the significance of the three initiatives and reaffirmed their commitment to coordinate with <span class=\"xn-location\">China<\/span> on their implementation.<\/p>\n<p>Xi reiterated <span class=\"xn-location\">China&#8217;s<\/span> firm support for the Central Asian countries to safeguard sovereignty and territorial integrity, and to independently choose development paths suited to their own national conditions, stressing <span class=\"xn-location\">China<\/span> opposes foreign interference in Central Asian countries&#8217; internal affairs.<\/p>\n<p>The five countries also vowed to firmly adhere to the one-<span class=\"xn-location\">China<\/span> principle and support <span class=\"xn-location\">China&#8217;s<\/span> position on issues related to <span class=\"xn-location\">Taiwan<\/span>, Xinjiang, <span class=\"xn-location\">Hong Kong<\/span> and other core interests.<\/p>\n<p><b>Mutual benefit, cooperation<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev lauded the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) as a great initiative when he met Xi on Wednesday. Thus, the five Central Asian leaders all expressed their intention to dovetail their countries&#8217; respective development strategies with the BRI.<\/p>\n<p>Ten years ago, Xi put forward the initiative of jointly building the Silk Road Economic Belt in <span class=\"xn-location\">Kazakhstan<\/span>, which led up to the BRI.
