RVCMC seeks to ensure that voluntary carbon credit purchases go above and beyond meaningful emission reductions in value chains.<\/p>\n<p>16 Saudi regional and international entities took part in the auction, with Aramco, Saudi Electricity Company (SEC) and ENOWA (a subsidiary of NEOM), purchasing the largest number of carbon credits. The other successful bidders at the auction were as follows:<\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li><span class=\"xn-person\">Abdul Latif Jameel<\/span><\/li>\n<li>Fruiz Marine Corp (Costamare)<\/li>\n<li>GOLF SAUDI<\/li>\n<li>Gulf International Bank<\/li>\n<li>International Islamic Trade Finance Corporation<\/li>\n<li>Olayan Financing Company<\/li>\n<li>SAUDIA<\/li>\n<li>Saudi Arabian Mining Company (MA&#8217;ADEN)<\/li>\n<li>Saudi Aramco Base Oil Company (Luberef)<\/li>\n<li>Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (SABIC)<\/li>\n<li>Saudi National Bank<\/li>\n<li>Saudi Telecommunication Company (STC)<\/li>\n<li>Yanbu Cement Company<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The auction clearing price was <span class=\"xn-money\">23.50 SAR<\/span> per tonne of carbon credits.<\/p>\n<p>The basket of credits includes 18 projects representing a mix of CO<sub>2<\/sub> avoidance and removal, including projects such as improved clean cookstoves and renewable energy projects. Three quarters of the carbon credits originated from countries across the <span class=\"xn-location\">Middle East<\/span>, <span class=\"xn-location\">North Africa<\/span> and Sub-Saharan Africa, including <span class=\"xn-location\">Kenya<\/span>, <span class=\"xn-location\">Uganda<\/span>, <span class=\"xn-location\">Burundi<\/span>, <span class=\"xn-location\">Rwanda<\/span>, <span class=\"xn-location\">Morocco<\/span>, <span class=\"xn-location\">Egypt<\/span> and <span class=\"xn-location\">South Africa<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>The success of today&#8217;s auction illustrates <span class=\"xn-location\">Saudi Arabia&#8217;s<\/span> commitment to tackle climate change in line with Saudi Green Initiative and Vision 2030.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to today&#8217;s auction event, RVCMC signed two MOUs: One with Eveready East Africa Plc, another with Carbon Vista Nigeria LP, in order to generate high-quality, impactful carbon projects in <span class=\"xn-location\">Kenya<\/span>, <span class=\"xn-location\">Nigeria<\/span> and beyond.
