The R&amp;D investments are an important contributor into Ericsson&#8217;s overall plan to reach the Net Zero target by 2040 through reduced energy consumption in the mobile networks globally.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"xn-person\">Carl Mellander<\/span>, Ericsson&#8217;s CFO, says: &quot;Wireless technology will play a key role in transitioning towards a low-carbon economy. The signing of the funding agreements with the European Investment Bank provides Ericsson with increased flexibility to drive critical research and development into making our own products more competitive and energy efficient. This will benefit our operator customers as well as other industrial sectors in their efforts to create a positive impact.&quot;<\/p>\n<p>The loans form an important part of Ericsson&#8217;s overall funding strategy, complementing other sources.<\/p>\n<p>In <span class=\"xn-chron\">December 2023<\/span>, Ericsson signed a 7-year <span class=\"xn-money\">EUR 100 million<\/span> green funding agreement with the Nordic Investment Bank (NIB). The loan will finance R&amp;D investments in wireless technology.<\/p>\n<p>On <span class=\"xn-chron\">November 23, 2023<\/span>, Ericsson announced the successful placement of a green Euro-denominated <a href=\"https:\/\/c212.net\/c\/link\/?t=0&amp;l=en&amp;o=4077523-1&amp;h=1240314692&amp;u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ericsson.com%2Fen%2Fpress-releases%2F2023%2F11%2Fericsson-issues-first-green-bond&amp;a=500+million+4.5-year+bond\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">500 million 4.5-year bond<\/a>.
