The exhibition features site-specific&nbsp;installations by more than 70 artists from the UAE and around the world, including 40 new commissions, thoughtfully exhibited throughout the downtown areas of <span class=\"xn-location\">Abu Dhabi<\/span> and Al Ain.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div id=\"prni_dvprnejpgfd2eleft\" dir=\"ltr\"> <a href=\"https:\/\/mma.prnasia.com\/media2\/2620805\/Public_Art_Abu_Dhabi_Biennial_1.jpg?p=medium600\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" id=\"prnejpgfd2eleft\" title=\"Rand Abdul Jabbar, Crown, Public Art Abu Dhabi Biennial 2024 \u2013 2025\" src=\"https:\/\/mma.prnasia.com\/media2\/2620805\/Public_Art_Abu_Dhabi_Biennial_1.jpg?p=medium600\" alt=\"Rand Abdul Jabbar, Crown, Public Art Abu Dhabi Biennial 2024 \u2013 2025\" align=\"middle\"><\/a> <br \/><span>Rand Abdul Jabbar, Crown, Public Art Abu Dhabi Biennial 2024 \u2013 2025<\/span> <\/div>\n<p>Following a spectacular launch in November, new unveilings by Anga Art Collective, Arquitectura Expandida, Ayesha Hadhir, L\u00facia Koch, <span class=\"xn-person\">Rand Abdul Jabbar<\/span>, <span class=\"xn-person\">Nnenna Okore<\/span>, <span class=\"xn-person\">Sophia Balagamwala<\/span>, and Tarik Kiswanson kicked off the Biennial into full gear this past weekend along with an ongoing piece by Atelier Aziz Al Qatami, which will continue to take shape at the Abu Dhabi Bus Terminal.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>New installations by <span class=\"xn-person\">Hussein Sharif<\/span>, <span class=\"xn-person\">Emily Jacir<\/span>, <span class=\"xn-person\">Rami Kashou<\/span> x Emirati Artisans, <span class=\"xn-person\">Alia Farid<\/span> and <span class=\"xn-person\">Latifa Saeed<\/span> will further activate the exhibition&#8217;s eight routes throughout the remaining months of the Public Art Abu Dhabi Biennial. A participatory performance by Mobile Akademie Berlin will round out the Biennial celebrations in April.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The installations are distributed across the Abu Dhabi Corniche Route, Abu Dhabi Public Parks Route, Abu Dhabi Bus Terminal Route, <span class=\"xn-location\">Downtown Abu Dhabi<\/span> Route, Carpet Souq Route, National Theatre Route, Cultural Foundation Route and Al Ain Oasis Route. The easy-to-follow routes can be explored on foot or by car.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>As part of the second phase, a public programme for visitors will activate the various Biennial sites including the Abu Dhabi Bus Station, a modern-heritage building in the city centre. Events include talks, curator-led tours, screening at the Cultural Foundation of <span class=\"xn-person\">Wael Shawky&#8217;s<\/span> <i>Drama 1882<\/i> (2024) \u2013 which premiered at the Venice Biennale \u2013 and collaborative public performances with artist <span class=\"xn-person\">Christopher Joshua Benton<\/span> and the community at the Carpet Souq.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b>Reem Fadda, Director of Culture Programming at DCT Abu Dhabi<\/b>, said: &#8220;The launch of the Public Art Abu Dhabi Biennial marks a milestone in <span class=\"xn-location\">Abu Dhabi&#8217;s<\/span> artistic scene. The artworks we unveiled as part of the second phase of the inaugural Public Art Abu Dhabi Biennial present a wide range of perspectives on the concept of &#8216;public,&#8217; within our distinct cultural context.
