YAS Insurance and JOIE have partnered to launch Hong Kong\u2019s first taxi fleet powered by a driving behavior-based insurance model. By leveraging real-time driving data, the initiative promotes safer, smarter mobility and transparent fleet operations. In the initial phase, approximately 1,000 hybrid and electric taxis<\/b> will be deployed, each integrated with YAS’s proprietary AI-driven scoring and insurance adjustment system. The platform evaluates driving behavior\u2014such as hard braking, sharp turns, and time of operation\u2014in real time, adjusting risk levels and premiums dynamically. Coupled with an incentive-based rewards program, the system is designed to encourage safe driving, reduce accidents and insurance costs, and accelerate the adoption of electric vehicles to support emission reduction efforts.<\/p>\n

By combining their respective strengths, YAS and JOIE will implement three core upgrade areas<\/b> that span vehicle selection, insurance structure, and passenger service experience:<\/p>\n

  1. Electrification and Comfort Upgrade
    <\/b>JOIE is progressively introducing a new generation of hybrid and electric vehicles to improve ride performance and cabin comfort, in alignment with Hong Kong’s transportation transition and green mobility goals.<\/li>\n
  2. Smart Insurance and Driver Behavior Scoring
    <\/b>The YAS TAXY solution combines artificial intelligence and real-time data to independently score each driver’s performance based on key safety indicators. Premiums are then adjusted dynamically, reinforcing the principle of “better driving = lower premiums” and promoting fairness and transparency in risk management.<\/li>\n
  3. Enhanced Passenger Experience
    <\/b>Future upgrades will include smart features such as AI-powered language translation, trip protection, and in-vehicle virtual assistants\u2014aimed at improving communication and the overall quality of the ride to better meet passenger expectations.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
