It aims to support <span class=\"xn-location\">Singapore&#8217;s<\/span> Green Plan 2030 and the national goal of achieving net-zero emissions by 2050. In addition, the Centre aims to be <span class=\"xn-location\">Asia&#8217;s<\/span> leading hub for applied sustainability innovation, with a focus on development, application, implementation, and workforce development \u2013 areas where MDIS and the University of <span class=\"xn-location\">Sunderland<\/span> bring complementary strengths \u2013 the aim would be to create a Centre that serves as a bridge between academic research and real-world practice.<\/p>\n<p>The Centre&#8217;s research and innovation blueprint is anchored in <span class=\"xn-location\">Singapore&#8217;s<\/span> industrial strategy through the following strategic pillars:<\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>Circular Manufacturing and Resilient Supply Chains<\/li>\n<li>Green Economy and Business Transformation<\/li>\n<li>Sustainable Tourism and Urban Hospitality<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Sir <span class=\"xn-person\">David Bell<\/span>, Vice-Chancellor and Chief Executive of the University of <span class=\"xn-location\">Sunderland<\/span>, said: &#8220;The launch of this Centre is a landmark moment for the University of <span class=\"xn-location\">Sunderland<\/span>.
