The four-quarter moving average, which compares the most recent four quarters to the prior four, rose 15.8%. &nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The industry continued to report double-digit year-over-year revenue growth for Q4 2021 and ended 2021 with <span class=\"xn-money\">$13.2 billion<\/span> total market revenue,&#8221; said <span class=\"xn-person\">Walden C. Rhines<\/span>, Executive Sponsor of the SEMI <i>Electronic Design Market Data<\/i> report. &#8220;Product categories Computer-Aided Engineering, Printed Circuit Board and Multi-Chip Module, &nbsp;Semiconductor Intellectual Property, and Services recorded double-digit growth for the quarter. Geographically, the Americas; <span class=\"xn-location\">Europe<\/span>, <span class=\"xn-location\">Middle East<\/span>, and <span class=\"xn-location\">Africa<\/span> (EMEA); and <span class=\"xn-location\">Asia Pacific<\/span> (APAC) all reported revenue growth.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The companies tracked in the <i>EDMD<\/i> report employed 51,236 people globally in Q4 2021, a 5.7% increase over the Q4 2020 headcount of 48,478 and up 0.1% compared to Q3 2021.<\/p>\n<p>The quarterly <i>EDMD<\/i> report contains detailed revenue information with the following category and geographic breakdowns.<\/p>\n<p><b>Revenue by Product and Application Category \u2013 Year-Over-Year Change<\/b><\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li><b>Computer-Aided Engineering (CAE)<\/b>&nbsp;revenue increased 11.2% to <span class=\"xn-money\">$1,064.6 million<\/span>. The four-quarter CAE moving average increased 12.2%. <\/li>\n<li><b>IC Physical Design and Verification<\/b> revenue decreased 2% to <span class=\"xn-money\">$624.5 million<\/span>. The four-quarter moving average for the category rose 7%. <\/li>\n<li><b>Printed Circuit Board and Multi-Chip Module (PCB and MCM)<\/b>&nbsp;revenue increased 13.9% to <span class=\"xn-money\">$333.7 million<\/span>. The four-quarter moving average for PCB and MCM rose 15.1%. <\/li>\n<li><b>Semiconductor Intellectual Property (SIP)<\/b> revenue jumped 24.8% to <span class=\"xn-money\">$1,314.3 million<\/span>. The four-quarter SIP moving average grew 23.9%. <\/li>\n<li><b>Services<\/b>&nbsp;revenue increased 43.1% to <span class=\"xn-money\">$131.1 million<\/span>. The four-quarter Services moving average increased 19%.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Revenue by Region \u2013 Year-Over-Year Change<\/b><\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>The <b>Americas<\/b>, the largest reporting region by revenue, procured <span class=\"xn-money\">$1,577.2 million<\/span> of electronic system design products and services in Q4 2021, a 21% increase. The four-quarter moving average for the Americas rose 17.2%. <\/li>\n<li><b><span class=\"xn-location\">Europe<\/span>, <span class=\"xn-location\">Middle East<\/span>, and <span class=\"xn-location\">Africa<\/span><\/b>&nbsp;<b>(EMEA)<\/b> procured <span class=\"xn-money\">$482.5 million<\/span> of electronic system design products and services in Q4 2021, a 5.5% increase. The four-quarter moving average for EMEA grew 12.6%. <\/li>\n<li><b><span class=\"xn-location\">Japan&#8217;s<\/span> <\/b>procurement of electronic system design products and services decreased 2.4% to <span class=\"xn-money\">$222.8 million<\/span>. The four-quarter moving average for <span class=\"xn-location\">Japan<\/span> rose 1%. <\/li>\n<li><b><span class=\"xn-location\">Asia Pacific<\/span> (APAC) <\/b>procured <span class=\"xn-money\">$1,185.6 million<\/span> of electronic system design products and services in Q4 2021, a 13.8% increase.
